Indians first-base prospect Michael Aubrey had been looking forward to
playing winter ball in the Dominican. But after his appearance in
instructional league, the organization decided Aubrey would be better
served by heading home to Louisiana to rest the hamstring strain that
bothered him since July and caused him to miss nearly a month.
"It was a mutual decision from our standpoint and from Michael's
standpoint," general manager Mark Shapiro said. "We felt like it was
better for him to rest it over the offseason and come back in 2005
completely healthy. The experience would have been good for any of
our players, but in this situation we felt like this was the route to
take."
Michael Aubrey應該是目前最被期待的一壘新秀，2004年球季中從1A升到2A。

Indians outfield prospect Franklin Gutierrez, who came over in the Milton
Bradley deal with the Dodgers this season, hit two home runs and was
batting .375 for Caracas in the first week of the Venezuelan League.
Franklin Gutierrez是今年季初交易Bradley的時候換回來的，目前應該是外野頭號
prospect。明年是不是也該進四十人名單保護啦？

Indians prospect Corey Smith was learning the outfield in instructional
league after struggling at third base for five seasons in the minors, but
at least one club official said he didn't like the way he was handling
the move, saying he had been "complacent on things that need to be
addressed." But Shapiro remains upbeat about the move, designed to take
defensive pressure off Smith and allow him to focus on his bat, which
has been streaky at best. "He understands that this is to take the pressure
off him," he said. "He's definitely going to hit and we just want him to
concentrate on things at the plate."
