NEW YORK -- Hal Steinbrenner is optimistic that A.J. Burnett will soon join
the Yankees' rotation behind CC Sabathia, accomplishing the club's primary
objective of significantly upgrading their starting pitching.

The Yankees co-chairman told Newsday in a telephone interview Friday that
Burnett -- who is said to be in decision-making mode -- could soon accept the
Yankees' five-year, $80 million offer.
Hal跟Newsday的人說 AJB可能快要接受這80M/5yr的合約了
The Braves are pushing to acquire Burnett and are prepared to provide a
similar offer, and agent Darek Braunecker said that a third unidentified team
could serve as a potential suitor.
勇士也準備提出一分類似的合約來尬 經紀人也放話說還有神秘第三者想要介入唷~~
"We're interested in [Burnett] and he's interested in us," Steinbrenner told
the newspaper. "Obviously, New York has a lot to offer, and playing for the
Yankees is just a great thing."
Hal說洋基跟AJB彼此已有好感(羞)
A signing of Burnett would lock in the Yankees' top two choices this winter,
though it would not come cheaply. Having added another year and $20 million
to their original offer to persuade Sabathia to sign, Steinbrenner said that
the Yankees had few qualms in upgrading their package.
簽下AJB是洋基這個冬天最重要的兩項目標之一 但為了搞來CC而多加碼了20M
Hal覺得可能會影響到其他球員合約的大小 (我不相信....)
Instead, general manager Brian Cashman flew to Vallejo, Calif., on Tuesday
armed with that additional financial muscle. The Yankees also did not flinch
at incorporating an opt-out clause that could make Sabathia a free agent after
the 2011 season, when only $69 million of his $161 million will have been paid
out.
有趣的是 現金人禮拜二飛去加州的時候 可是帶著滿滿的預算去談的耶

洋基不吝於給CC逃脫條款 如果他真用了 洋基也只需付69M就是
"Once we started to see that it was important to them, and would move us
closer to getting a deal done, it was not an agonizing decision,"
Steinbrenner said.
Hal繼續說如果他們(AJB方)覺得這個決定很重要的話 那就表示就快成交啦~~
這可不是要他們做什麼痛苦的決定~~ (好痛苦的80M XD)
Sabathia will undergo a physical within the next few days and could be
introduced in a press conference at the old Yankee Stadium next week. The
Yankees continue to plan more ceremonies for this winter at their former
ballpark, but Steinbrenner said there are financial limits despite their
large offers to Sabathia and Burnett.
CC在接下來的幾天會做個體檢 下禮拜會在舊洋基球場內被介紹出來
洋基這冬天的動作可還沒結束 不過Hal說實在不要看他們給CC跟AJB的這兩張大約
他們錢再多還是有極限的好咩 (好想知道這個極限到底到哪....)
"We do have a certain amount that we're willing to spend," Steinbrenner said.
"We'll try to work within that."
好啦 恁爸還是有一些些錢可以花啦 我們還是會想辦法花掉的啦
(嘴巴說不要 身體倒是挺誠實的代表.....)
