OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Indiana Pacers escaped another one-possession game, but
they showed again why their maturity continues to be questioned.
溜馬又一次在一次球權定江山的比賽中勝出，但這樣的結局再一次突顯為何

In a game that featured five technical fouls, the Pacers walked out of the
Ford Center with a 92-90 victory after New Orleans Hornets forward David West
missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

"We got a little lucky and dodged a hand grenade at the end," Pacers coach
Rick Carlisle said. "West got a good look. You have to get lucky and dodge a
couple of those."

The victory ended the Pacers' two-game losing streak, but it again put into
question their mental toughness.

Pacers point guard and elder statesman Anthony Johnson could have cost his
team the game.

Johnson was given a technical for shoving Hornets rookie point guard Chris
Paul while walking back to the bench during a timeout with 3.1 seconds left
and the Pacers leading 92-90. Fortunately for the Pacers, Paul missed the
free throw.
在最後３.１秒雙方球員往各自板凳區走去時， Johnson 因為推了黃蜂ＰＧ Chris
Paul 一把而被吹判技術犯規，當時溜馬以９２－９０領先。還好，Paul 並沒有

"The technical was sad to see," Pacers forward Jeff Foster said. "It was a
bad time in the game. You don't expect that from A.J., of all people. We were
fortunate he missed that shot and he missed the game-winner. The way we've
been going lately, it seems like we're getting back to getting on the refs
again, and we can't do that if we want to be successful."

Johnson and Paul, the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year, had been talking
trash throughout the game, which led to the push.

"That was a high school call, I felt like," said Johnson, who admitted he
must do a better job of keeping his cool. "The teams had been yapping back
and forth all night long. At that point in the game, I'm trying to get to the
bench for a timeout and this little dude weighing 150 pounds gets in the way.
It was a little altercation, but nothing that warranted a technical for Eddie
(F.) Rush to make. I was a little disappointed at that because at this time
of year, you've got to let the ball players make plays to determine the ball
game."
坦承自己應該管好自己脾氣的 Johnson 說：「那是個高中生等級的吹判。兩邊整晚
都在嗆聲，你嗆我、我嗆你。那個技術犯規發生時，我只是在暫停叫出來後往板凳

Stephen Jackson, who had 21 points, and Sarunas Jasikevicius also picked up
technicals in the second half when the Pacers resorted to their old habit of
complaining to the officials.

"We can do better in some areas and we will," Carlisle said. "I admit we all
have to do better. I put myself in that category as well."

The Pacers looked like they were about to blow a double-digit lead in the
second half for the second straight game. They led 60-50 early in the third
quarter when the Hornets, who have dropped five straight games, went on a
12-0 run.

Pacers center Scot Pollard, not known for his offensive game, scored all nine
of his points in the third quarter to help them take the lead into the fourth
quarter.

The Pacers went up by five, but the Hornets tied the score and eventually
went up 90-89 with 2:41 remaining, leaving the Pacers having to find somebody
to step up in the clutch.

Johnson and Jackson both had opportunities to be the hero in the past week
for the Pacers, but they think they've found their go-to player for the
future.

Peja Stojakovic came off a screen and hit a 25-foot 3-pointer to put them up
for good. Stojakovic scored 11 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter.

"Peja came through down the stretch and made a big 3," Johnson said. "He
showed us he can get it done coming off screens. For now on, when the game is
