[閒聊] Bugs
I know this topic is more about culture shock.
Can I still talk about it here?
I found that many of my friends have a ralatively merciful attitude toward bugs.
Example 1.
a 31 year-old hispanic American (female):
"oh, please don't kill that ant in front of my son."
"do you mind just pick it up an put it outside?"
Example 2.
a 33 year-old hispanic guy:
"I can never understand why someone has to squash a bug with a slipper.
It's so violent. Why don't they just let it go,
or kill it with a more civilized method,
such as bug spray?"
Example 3.
a 30 year-old hispanic guy:
"Why do you have to kill every bug you see in your house?
They don't bother you!"
To make it fit here better, here's my guy's reaction:
Gigi: what will you do if you see a cockroach right now?
MM: Catch it and throw it out (of the window).
Gigi: (stunned)
Is it just a hispanic thing?
I'm very curious about how people from other culture treat bugs/vermin?
